These images of mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians include all 21 National Parks, and many Provincial Parks, Nature Reserves, Game Reserves, and Wilderness Areas. They encompass all 8 "Biomes" (desert, forest, fynbos, grassland, Nama karoo, succulent karoo, savanna, and thicket) and all 11 "Eco-Regions" (fynbos, west coast karoo, great karoo, Knysna forest, east coast belt, Maputland-Pondoland, Drakensberg mountains, northern forest, bushveld, highveld, and Kalahari) of South Africa, throughout all 9 provinces. Basically during the dry season, which entailed latter winter, the entire spring season, and a few weeks into the summer upon the Southern Hemisphere. Starting north of Cape Town, then traveling clockwise around the Rainbow Nation - amongst its unique endemic, at times massive, and colorful array of fauna specimens.

Southern Rock Agama (Agama atra) - a diurnal and oviparous (egg producing) lizard, that grows to about 9 in. (25 cm) in length. The males scales turn blue during breeding season - here during the very early springtime (late Sept), in the Cederberg (Ceder Mountains), Western Cape Province.
