Quebrada del Condorito National Park (Condor Gorge) - established in 1996, to protect the headwaters of rivers and streams and to conserve the breeding habitat of the Andean condor. The park is located in the western area of the Cordoba (province), in the Punilla, Santa Maria and San Alberto (departments). The park covers a portion of the Pampa de Achala, between 6,200-7,550 ft. (1,900 m - 2,300 m) in the Sierra Grande (which is the central area of the Sierras de Cordoba), which is located in the Oriental Sierra Pampeanas (Eastern Pampas Mountains), the only mountain range in Argentina which is not part of the Earth's longest mountain range, the Andes Range (Cordillera Andes) - the Pampeanas Mountains stretches into 7 provinces in the northwestern area of Argentina.
