Tawny Antpitta (Grallaria quitensis) - this species stands about 7 in. (18 cm) tall, they are mostly a solitary bird which forages by hopping on the ground - this specimen perched atop the lichen encrusted igneous rock, surrounded by montane grassland vegetation of the Andean Paramo eco-region - Cajas National Park (whose altitude ranges from ≈ 10,200-14,750 ft. (3,100-4,500 m).
