My educational journey along the western slopes of the Andes and the nearby, Pacific Ocean shoreline - from the Big Island of the Land of Fire (Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego), northward thru the Patagonia Ice Fields, Magellanic Subpolar Forest, Valdivian Temperate Forest, Matorral (scrubland), and to the Atacama Desert and high Central Andean plateaus.

Tail-feather to tail-feather or rectrices to rectrices - with the black primary plumage exposed while standing, which is the easiest way to distinguish this species (Andean Flamingo) from the other 2 species (Puna and Chilean), which are found throughout the Altiplano and Puna areas of the Andes, the widest section throughout its entire length of South America.
