Croatia - Hrvatska - an Eastern Europe country located on the northwestern Balkan Peninsula, along the eastern Adriatic Sea (Jadransko More), the northern Mediterranean.
Croatia covers about 21,850 sq. mi. (56,600 sq. km) of land area - comprised of lowland Pannonia Basin, mountainous Dinaric Alps, and coastal Adriatic. There is around 1,100 mi. (1,770 km) of mainland coastal shoreline, with about 2,520 mi. (4,055 km) of island/islet coastline, comprised of > 700 islands and islets, which is the most of any Mediterranean country. The geology is predominatgely karstic limestone and dolomite.
These images are during the late summer season throughout the geographical regions of Istria (the largest peninsula of the Adriatic Sea), western Croatia - Central region (with the Kavarner Gulf to the west and Slovenia to the north) - and Dalmatia region, southern Croatia (from the northwest corner of Bosnia, southwest to the Adriatic Sea, following the Dinaric Alps southward to Montenegro.
