Vicuña or Vicugna - they are the smallest of the camelids (6 species on Earth), growing to about 6 ft. (1.8 m) in body length - shoulder height of around 3 ft. (0.9 m) - tail length of near 9 in. (23 cm) - and weighing up to around 140 lb. (64 kg) - an extremely slender species, with long skinny limbs and neck - the overall color of the soft wooly coat is ochre, light cinnamon, or reddish brown, with the underparts, insides of the legs, and underside of the head being dirty white - on the chest, at the base of the neck, is a distinct mane, a patch of silky white long hairs - the hair of the Vicuna is the finest diameter (softest) animal hair used in the clothing industry (smaller than the Mohair-Angora Goat, Cashmere Goat, Merino Sheep, Alpaca, and Camel Hair) - these specimens grazing along the edge of the Rio Putana - northeastern Antofagasta region.
